The largest kite festival in North America taking place on the Beach at Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood and inside the Wildwoods Convention Center featuring kite makers from around the world flying their most incredible colorful creations. Event begins on Friday at 12 noon with the 'Unlocking of the Ocean' media event on the beach at Roberts Avenue featuring a special Wildwoods Icon Wall Mural Unveiling. Festivities continue with the opening of the Festival Field Tent and the 9 p.m. illuminated kite fly at Rio Grande Avenue and the beach. Saturday and Sunday include the East Coast Stunt Kite Championships on the beach starting at 9 a.m. daily, as well as kite exhibits and workshops. A Kite Festival Auction will be held in the Wildwoods Convention Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday night and is open to the public - many unique kites and collectibles will be auctioned off. Monday will feature the World Indoor Kite Competition from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. inside the Wildwoods Convention Center where kite fliers will showcase their impressive ability to fly a kite without wind. Memorial Day Ceremony at the North Wildwood Veterans Monument, Spruce & New York Avenues, in North Wildwood. 10 a.m. Hosted by VFW Post 5941. There will also be a service earlier that morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse flagpole where the names of the VFW Post 5941 members who have deceased since last Memorial Day will be read and their service honored.

Memorial Day Ceremonies at the Wildwood American Legion Post #184, 4200 Atlantic Ave. in Wildwood at 11 a.m. featuring speakers, recognition of deceased comrades, firing squad, "Taps" and wreath laying ceremonies at the Post, the Memorial Walk, and at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Police Explorers will also lay a wreath in the ocean along with Wildwood's Beach Patrol behind the Wildwoods Convention Center. Parade steps off at Wildwood and Atlantic Avenues at 7:30 p.m. and proceeds south to Andrews Avenue and Ocean Avenue, ending at Burk Avenue. A candlelight vigil and ceremony will take place at the Wildwood Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, an exact half-size black granite replica of the official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., at sunset. The wall has the 58,913 names of our country's fallen herœœs from the Vietnam War etched on its panels and stretches for 240 feet along the existing sidewalks of Columbus Park. A weekly ceremony every Sunday morning to raise the casket flag of a Veteran to honor and remember ALL Veterans, held at the Lou Booth Amphitheater at 2nd and Ocean Avenues in North Wildwood. Arrive 10 minutes before sunrise to participate in a 20-minute tribute and inspirational message at the most beautiful vista on the Jersey Shore. This location offers photo ops galore! The Flag Raising Ceremony is weather permitting as Veteran Casket Flags are not for all-weather.
